Our Services
One to One
At The Freedom Room in Carseldine, our one-to-one addiction counselling offers a confidential and safe space dedicated to addressing your individual challenges. You’ll work with a qualified counsellor who provides non-judgmental support and brings the invaluable perspective of lived experience with addiction, promoting a deeper level of understanding and empathy. Together, we’ll explore the root causes of your addiction and its impact on your life, identify your specific triggers, and develop personalized strategies for recovery. This collective process will equip you with practical coping mechanisms, relapse prevention strategies, and healthy ways to manage stress and emotions. We’ll also work together to set meaningful goals for your recovery journey, and you’ll receive ongoing support as you navigate each step towards lasting recovery.
Couples session
This session is for yourself and your loved one. This can be your partner or a family member. Working through the issues that arise in recovery with your loved ones is so important, especially with addiction counselling involved.
Family sessions
The Family Sessions are designed to assist clients, family members, and significant others in developing a greater understanding of the disease of alcoholism. This includes a Q&A session. We work with clients and their families in a safe, caring, confidential way. Our addiction counselling extends to all family members for comprehensive support.
EFT and CBT
The Freedom Room offers both EFT and CBT as part of our ongoing work with our clients. Addiction counselling often includes these techniques to ensure thorough recovery support.
Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) is a mind-body technique that combines acupressure with psychological focus to address emotional and physical discomfort. EFT aims to regulate the nervous system and promote a sense of calm and well-being by tapping on specific energy meridian points while tuning into a particular issue.
Cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) is a form of talking therapy that can be used to treat people with a wide range of mental health challenges. It is based on the idea that how we think (cognition), how we feel (emotion), and how we act (behaviour) all interact.
Twelve Step Facilitation at The Freedom Room and How This Fits Within Our 12 Foundations.
At The Freedom Room, our 12 Foundations of Freedom are built on many of the same proven principles found in traditional 12 Step programs, but delivered in a practical, non-religious and empowering way. We believe recovery is not about labels or shame. It is about growth, awareness and responsibility.
Twelve Step Facilitation is not about religion or forcing beliefs, and under no circumstances is anyone required to follow a 12 Step pathway. It is simply one of the options available.
For those who choose it, it offers a structured, evidence-informed approach that helps people move from denial and chaos into acceptance, clarity and steady change. It provides a practical framework to understand behaviour, take responsibility and build strong foundations for long-term recovery.
We also educate members about a range of 12 Step programs, including secular options. Secular models follow the same proven structure without references to God or a higher power. The focus remains on honesty, self-awareness, accountability, connection and growth.
There is never pressure to attend external meetings. For some people, outside meetings are helpful. For others, the support they build within The Freedom Room community is enough. Recovery is not one-size-fits-all. We help each person find a pathway that feels safe, empowering and sustainable.
Research indicates that TSF can be a highly effective treatment option for substance use disorders and is tailored to the individual’s needs and preferences. There is no one-size-fits-all approach. Our proven program focuses on personal empowerment and provides a non-religious framework for recovery.
Relapse prevention
Alcoholism is a chronic disease, and you need a long-term plan to stay sober. People who struggle with alcoholism should treat their disorder like any other chronic disease. If you stop treating it, you will relapse. Relapse prevention is a plan to stay sober after our sessions. Addiction counselling sessions will help you remain committed to this plan.
Alcohol risk minimization
If you are not ready to stop drinking, we can help you draw up a plan to reduce your risks when drinking alcohol.
Workshops
The Freedom Room Workshops offer a blend of education and guidance designed to foster self-compassion, mindfulness, positivity, and gratitude, empowering you on your journey of recovery and self-growth.
Group Recovery Meetings
These meetings are held three times a week, with two face-to-face meetings and one online meeting. They are to support people in recovery and are exclusively accessible to The Freedom Room clients.
The Freedom Room Space
The Freedom Room space is very discreet and welcomes children, should you need to bring them along.
