Terms and Conditions

Last updated: 5 November 2026

These terms apply when you book a session, buy a program, workshop, membership or resource, or use the website of The Freedom Room Pty Ltd (ABN 51 651 079 695), Unit 9a, 521 Beams Rd, Carseldine QLD 4034 (“The Freedom Room”, “we”, “us”).

By booking or buying, you agree to these terms. Please read them along with our Privacy Policy. If you join a program, you’ll also sign a service agreement with us. It says the same things as these terms.

1. Important: we are not an emergency, medical or detox service

If you are in danger or someone’s life is at risk, call 000.

For 24-hour crisis support, call Lifeline on 13 11 14. In Queensland you can also call Adis 24/7 Alcohol and Drug Support on 1800 177 833, any time of the day or night.

The Freedom Room provides counselling, recovery coaching, peer support, education and recovery programs. We are not a medical service, and we do not provide medical detox, withdrawal management, diagnosis or medication.

Stopping alcohol suddenly after drinking heavily or daily can be dangerous, and in some cases life-threatening. If you drink heavily, drink every day, or have had withdrawal symptoms before (such as shaking, sweating, seeing or hearing things, or seizures), talk to your GP or a medical detox service before you stop. We can help you find one.

Nothing on our website, in our emails, podcasts, blogs, workbooks or programs is medical advice. Always speak to your GP or another health professional about your physical and mental health and any medication.

If we believe a life is in danger. If we reasonably believe someone’s life is in immediate danger, we will contact emergency services, and we may share relevant information with them. This is part of our duty of care.

Our phone and message support during programs is offered Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. Messages sent after hours are answered the next business day. It is not monitored around the clock and is not a crisis line. In an emergency, call 000 or Lifeline on 13 11 14.

2. Our services and prices

Current services, inclusions and prices are listed on our website. All prices are in Australian dollars. Unless we say otherwise, prices include GST where GST applies.

We may change our prices or program inclusions from time to time. If you have already paid for or signed up to a program, the price and inclusions you agreed to will not change for that program.

3. Programs, deposits and payment plans

12-Week Recovery Program (in person, $3,950). You can pay in full, or use one of these payment plans:

  • $1,153 upfront, then 3 fortnightly payments of $1,045 ($4,288 total); or
  • $1,153 upfront, then 11 weekly payments of $304 ($4,497 total).

12-Week Online Recovery Program ($2,995). You can pay in full, or use one of these payment plans:

  • $1,000 upfront, then 11 weekly payments of $227 ($3,497 total); or
  • $1,000 upfront, then 3 fortnightly payments of $763 ($3,288 total).

Upfront payment. Your program starts once the upfront payment (or full payment) is received. The upfront payment isn’t refunded if you change your mind before the program starts. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

Payment plans. By choosing a payment plan, you agree to pay the full program price, including every instalment, even if you stop attending (see section 5). Instalments are collected by automatic card payment on each due date. Card payment fees are already included in the payment plan price. If you’d rather pay by bank transfer, talk to us and we can arrange it.

Checking your invoice. If something on an invoice doesn’t look right, please let us know within 3 days of receiving it so we can sort it out quickly.

Late payments. We keep our prices as low as we can so the program stays within reach, and on-time payments help us keep going. If a payment hasn’t been received:

  • 7 days after the due date, a $20 late fee is added;
  • for every further 7 days it stays unpaid, another $20 late fee is added;
  • 30 days after the due date, we may refer the unpaid amount (including late fees) to a debt collection agency or solicitor. If we do, reasonable costs of recovering the debt may be added to what you owe.

We’ll stay in touch with you while a balance is outstanding, so you’ll always know about any fees before they’re added. If you think you’ll have trouble paying on time, please talk to us early. We’d always rather work out another arrangement with you.

Program time frame. The program runs for 12 weeks from your start date, unless it ends earlier under these terms or we agree to an extension. If we pause your program because you’re unwell or in hospital (see section 5), the time frame is extended by the length of the pause.

Workshops. Workshops are $350 each, held on the last Saturday of the month from 9am to 3pm. Please bring your own lunch.

Monthly membership ($200 per month). Membership is only available once you’ve completed the 12-Week Recovery Program. It’s billed monthly at $200. There’s no minimum term, and you can cancel any time by emailing rachel@thefreedomroom.com.au with 14 days’ notice.

4. Cancelling or rescheduling an appointment

We understand life happens. When someone cancels at the last minute, it means another person misses out on that time, so we ask for at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or move a session. You can let us know by:

  • calling (07) 3325 1531; or
  • using the link in your appointment confirmation email.

With 24 hours’ notice or more: we’ll reschedule at no cost, and if you paid a deposit to book the appointment, we’ll refund it.

Less than 24 hours’ notice, or a missed appointment: a $50 cancellation fee applies. We may charge it to the card we have on file, or take it from any deposit you paid for that appointment. Otherwise we’ll invoice you, and the fee is due within 3 days.

Running late: if you arrive late, your session will still finish at the usual time. If you’re more than 30 minutes late, we’ll need to reschedule, and the cancellation fee may apply.

Emergencies: if you miss or cancel an appointment because of an emergency or something genuinely out of your control, please tell us. We’ll waive the fee in those situations.

If we need to cancel or reschedule, we’ll give you as much notice as we can and offer another time at no cost.

5. Refunds

If you leave the 12-week program early. You’re signing up for the whole 12 weeks. If you decide to stop or don’t complete the program, we don’t give a refund for the remaining weeks, and any instalments still owing remain payable.

If we end your program. If we end your program for any reason other than a breach of our behaviour policy (section 8), we’ll refund you for any part of the program you’ve paid for but haven’t received.

Appointment deposits. Refunded when you cancel with at least 24 hours’ notice (see section 4).

Changing your mind before you start. The upfront payment isn’t refunded if you change your mind before the program starts.

Workshops. Workshop payments aren’t refunded.

If you become unwell or go into hospital. We don’t give refunds, but we’ll pause your program so you can focus on getting better. When you’re well, you can pick up where you left off, and your 12 weeks are extended by the time you were away.

Digital products. Digital products such as The Sober Curious Journey ($99) and the “How Much is Alcohol Really Costing?” workbook ($24.99) aren’t refunded once you’ve accessed or downloaded them. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

Your rights under Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. Our services come with guarantees that they will be provided with due care and skill and be fit for the purpose we’ve described. If we don’t meet those guarantees, you may be entitled to a refund or other remedy, whatever else these terms say.

6. Online programs and digital resources

Online sessions and meetings run on Zoom. You’ll need a reliable internet connection, a device with a camera and microphone, and a private space where you won’t be overheard.

Digital programs and resources (such as The Sober Curious Journey and the “How Much is Alcohol Really Costing?” workbook) are delivered by download or email after purchase. If you have trouble accessing something you’ve paid for, contact us and we’ll fix it.

7. Our content and resources belong to us

All content on our website and in our programs, including The Sober Curious Journey, our workbooks, guides, e-books, videos, worksheets, the 12 Foundations of Freedom, podcasts and blog posts, is owned by The Freedom Room or used with permission, and is protected by copyright.

When you buy or download a resource, you get a personal, non-transferable licence to use it for your own recovery. Please don’t copy, share, forward, resell, upload or publish it (including sharing the download link or file with others) without our written permission. If you’d like copies for a group, workplace or clients, contact us and we’ll sort something out.

8. Group meetings, workshops and The Freedom Room space

What’s said in the room stays in the room. Anonymity is at the heart of The Freedom Room. People need to know they can speak openly without their name or story being shared outside the room. Please never share who you saw or what anyone said, unless they’ve given you permission.

To keep the room safe for everyone, we also ask that you:

  • treat everyone with respect, without judgement. We’re all here to change, and everyone deserves the chance to;
  • if you’ve been drinking or using, you’re still welcome to come and sit in the meeting, but please don’t share that day. If you need to talk, call us.
  • don’t record meetings, workshops or online sessions, or take photos of other attendees.

Bullying, harassment and discrimination. Bullying, harassment (including sexual harassment), discrimination and victimisation are not accepted at The Freedom Room, at our events, or online with other members. A single incident of sexual harassment is enough. If this happens, you’ll get one warning. If it happens again, your place at The Freedom Room will end straight away and no refund will be given for the rest of your program. Serious incidents, such as sexual harassment, threats or violence, may mean you’re asked to leave immediately. Our full Bullying, Harassment and Discrimination Policy is part of your service agreement, and we’re happy to send you a copy.

Use of The Freedom Room space and the massage chair is at your own risk. Please tell us about any health condition that might affect your use of the massage chair, or your participation in breathwork or meditation, before you take part.

9. Testimonials and results

The testimonials and stories on our website are real experiences shared by clients and their families, with their permission. Some are shown with initials only, or anonymously, for privacy.

Everyone’s recovery is different. Testimonials describe what happened for that person, not a promise of what will happen for you. Results depend on many things, including your health, circumstances and the work you put in. We can’t guarantee any particular outcome, including that anyone will stop drinking or stay sober.

10. Our liability

We provide our services with care and skill. To the extent the law allows, we aren’t responsible for any loss that results from you relying on general information on our website or in our resources without getting personal advice, or from things outside our reasonable control. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, or any liability we have that the law doesn’t allow us to exclude.

11. Privacy

We handle your personal and health information in line with our Privacy Policy.

12. Notices and sorting out problems

Any formal notice under these terms (such as cancelling a membership) needs to be in writing. Email to rachel@thefreedomroom.com.au is fine.

If something goes wrong, please talk to us first. We’ll work with you in good faith to sort it out.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version on our website when you book or buy is the one that applies to that booking or purchase.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia.
