What if changing your relationship with alcohol didn’t start with giving it up… but with understanding it?

Whether you’re sober curious, questioning your drinking, or simply wondering if alcohol is giving you as much as it’s taking away, perhaps you’ve promised yourself you’ll drink less. Maybe you’ve questioned whether your drinking has changed over time. Or perhaps you’re simply curious about what life could feel like with less alcohol in it.

This self-paced online programme will help you explore your relationship with alcohol using evidence-based information, practical exercises and compassionate guidance.

If you’re reading this because something about alcohol doesn’t feel quite right anymore…

Trust that feeling.

You don’t need to have decided to stop drinking. You simply need to be curious enough to ask the question.

“What if life could be different?”

This programme is for you if…

✔ You’re questioning your relationship with alcohol.

✔ You’re sober curious.

✔ You’re tired of making promises you struggle to keep.

✔ You want evidence-based information rather than opinions.

✔ You want to understand alcohol without judgment.

✔ You’re curious about what life could look like with less alcohol, or none at all.

Maybe you’ve tried…

  • Reading books.
  • Listened to podcasts.
  • Watched documentaries.
  • Downloaded apps.

But somehow… Nothing really changed.

There is a reason for that… And it isn’t because you’re weak. For years, many of us have believed that if we can’t control our drinking, it must be because we’re weak, lack willpower or simply don’t want it enough. Nothing could be further from the truth.

The truth is…

Alcohol isn’t just another drink. It’s an addictive substance that changes the way the brain works. The more often we drink, the more our brain learns to rely on alcohol as a way of coping, relaxing, celebrating or escaping.

Over time, what once felt like a choice can begin to feel like a need. Understanding that doesn’t remove responsibility. But it does remove shame. Because it’s much easier to move forward when you stop blaming yourself for something you were never taught to understand. When shame is replaced with understanding, real change becomes possible.

Discover the true financial, emotional, physical and personal cost of alcohol. When most people think about the cost of alcohol, they think about the price of a bottle of wine, a carton of beer or a night out. But what if alcohol has been costing you far more than what’s showing on your bank statement?

What about

  • Your sleep?
  • Your energy?
  • Your confidence?
  • Your physical health?
  • Your mental well-being?
  • Your relationships?
  • Your parenting?
  • Your self-respect?
  • Your peace of mind?
  • The memories you’ve missed?
  • The mornings you’ve regretted?
  • The opportunities you never took because alcohol was in the way?

Sometimes the greatest cost of alcohol isn’t financial. It’s the life it quietly steals while convincing us it’s making life better. How much time are you borrowing from tomorrow to drink today?

  • Tomorrow morning,
  • Tomorrow’s energy,
  • Tomorrow’s patience,
  • Tomorrow’s motivation,
  • Tomorrow’s health…

Why This Programme Is Different

There are thousands of books, podcasts and online resources about alcohol. Many of them are excellent. Many tell you what to do. Challenge old beliefs. Introduce new ideas. They can help you understand addiction.

But information alone rarely changes our lives.

Knowledge creates awareness. Action creates freedom.

That’s why The Sober Curious Journey was designed to be more than something you read. The Sober Curious Journey combines lived experience with evidence-based practice to explain alcohol in a way that’s practical, compassionate and easy to understand.

“I always knew I drank differently from others around me, but it didn’t start so dramatically. The Sober Curious Journey is the programme I wish someone had given me years ago.”

Why I Created The Sober Curious Journey

If you’d met me years ago, you probably wouldn’t have thought I had a problem with alcohol. From the outside, I looked successful. I owned my own business. I worked hard. I had 2 cars on the drive and Caribbean holidays.

People thought I had everything together. Behind closed doors, my life was very different.

I had my first drink at 13, and I didn’t stop until I was 38.

For almost 25 years, alcohol shaped my life. I couldn’t have just one drink. Once I started, I had no idea where the night would end.

Alcohol affected every relationship I had. It affected my parenting, my friendships and my self-respect. There was always another promise, another apology and another attempt to stop. I would wake up in places I didn’t recognise. I woke up in the hospital. I drove when I should never have been behind the wheel.

Some mornings, I woke to find a family member asleep on my lounge because my daughters had called them after they couldn’t wake me up. They hadn’t had dinner because I was unconscious. As a parent, there are few feelings worse than knowing you’ve let your children down.

Every time I promised them it would never happen again, I meant it. With every part of me. But somehow, it kept happening. I COULDN’T STOP. By the end, I was drinking around a litre of vodka every day.

I always knew I drank differently from others around me, but it didn’t start so dramatically. The Sober Curious Journey is the programme I wish someone had given me years ago. One that helped me understand why I couldn’t.

FAQs

Do I have to stop drinking?

No. This programme isn’t about telling you what to do or making decisions for you. The Sober Curious Journey is designed to help you understand your relationship with alcohol so you can make informed choices that feel right for you. Some people use it to take a break from drinking, some decide to continue drinking differently, and others choose an alcohol-free life. The choice is, and always will be, yours.

What if I’m not an alcoholic?

You don’t need to call yourself an alcoholic to benefit from this programme. In fact, many people who complete The Sober Curious Journey have never identified with that label. If you’ve started questioning your drinking, wondering why alcohol has become so important, or you’re simply curious about what life might look like with less alcohol, this programme was created for you.

How long will it take?

There isn’t a right or wrong pace. Some people like to work through it over a weekend. Others take several weeks, allowing themselves time to reflect and complete the exercises. This isn’t a race. Take the time you need. The more honest you are with yourself, the more you’ll get from the journey.

Can I work through it at my own pace?

Absolutely. The programme is completely self-paced, so you can work through it whenever it suits you. Pause when life gets busy. Come back whenever you’re ready. Once you’ve downloaded your workbook and bonus resources, they’re yours to keep forever. Recovery isn’t about rushing. It’s about creating lasting change.

Is this suitable if I’ve already stopped drinking?

Many people complete The Sober Curious Journey after they’ve already stopped drinking because they want to better understand their relationship with alcohol and strengthen their recovery. Stopping drinking is only one part of the journey. Understanding why we drank, challenging old beliefs and building a life we no longer want to escape from is where lasting change happens.

What if I’ve tried before and failed?

If you’ve tried to change your drinking before, you’re not alone. Most people don’t get it right the first time. Or the second. Or even the third. That doesn’t mean you’ve failed. It means you’ve been trying. This programme isn’t about judging where you’ve been. It’s about helping you understand what may have been missing, so you can move forward with greater knowledge, confidence and hope.

What if I’m scared of what I might discover?

That’s completely understandable. Questioning your relationship with alcohol can feel confronting. But remember, this journey isn’t about judging yourself. It’s about understanding yourself. Many people tell me their greatest regret wasn’t starting the journey… It was waiting so long to begin. You’ll take this journey one step at a time. And you won’t be judged at any point along the way.
